Mutual Aid
The Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department provides emergency service 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. When a major fire or other emergency occur greater than the resources available within the department, then additional help may be requested from neighboring fire departments. Similarly, the department provides aid to other nearby fire departments. When fire departments help each other in this manner, it is called Mutual Aid.
An organized system for fire departments to provide mutual aid and communicate with each other in times of need has been established. The system provides pre-established responses to various levels of need during different types of emergencies. It should be noted that, in addition to personnel and apparatus responding to the scene of the emergency, resources are sent to the stricken community's fire station to provide coverage within the community should additional incidents occur.
By joining forces, the combined resources provide the quickest response of manpower and equipment to incidents. We would like to thank all of our mutual aid fire departments for their continued support.
